Fire Medical Responce (FMR)

Churchill Fire Brigade is now trained and equipped to assist Ambulance Victoria through the Fire Medical Response (FMR) program, helping deliver time-critical medical care when every second counts.

So what does this mean for our community?

When you call Triple Zero (000) for an ambulance, local firefighters may also be dispatched to assist in certain emergencies. Our firefighters can provide immediate life-saving care while paramedics are on their way.

Importantly, firefighters do not replace Ambulance Victoria. Ambulance crews will still respond, provide the highest standard of patient care, and transport patients when required.

Why is this important?

intervention with CPR and the use of a defibrillator can dramatically improve a person's chance of surviving a cardiac arrest.

For every minute CPR is delayed, the chance of survival decreases by around 10%.

By working alongside Ambulance Victoria, our firefighters can help bridge those critical first few minutes and improve outcomes for people in our community.

We're proud to be expanding our service and supporting the health and safety of Churchill.
